THE VISION OF A KING
We found ourselves in Johannesburg – on the avenue – with an abundance of creative opportunity beckoning us forward. , Mr King wanted to create something meaningful: a bedrock of entertainment to inspire his family and his community; a space that united loved ones; a space that praised the goodness of life; a space that elevated their joy.
Mr King is a visionary. Over 6ft tall with a cool grin, our client met us at the door. With a keen sense of business and an innovative vision of a family home cinema, Mr King wanted BNC Technology to make it happen.
With only 13 weeks to create something plush, lush and luxurious in time for Christmas, we set our sights on a cinema room that would meet Mr King’s vision – and leave a lasting impression for anyone that experienced it.
This is our design journey through a warm and inviting new home; spilling over with beautiful views matched by incredible sunsets; only thing missing was a starlit ceiling and a 300cm cinema screen.

ONCE UPON A FAMILY CASTLE… IN 2021
The King family was ready for something new and fresh and incomparable to any other home in the street.
THEY SAID: “Can you build us a home cinema?”
WE SAID: “Yes. Put your faith in us!”
We wanted to build something special; something that put family first. At BNC, we appreciate families who love families – because we’re a family too.
We followed the lead of the family. We envisioned a room spacious enough for, Mr King’s charismatic personality. We imagined cladded acoustics around the cinema with high performance tech and tricks to ignite enthusiasm for the kids.
Sundays in the King house would fill the air with the surround sound of choirs and chorus, while Friday nights would be reserved for date nights – a night in for the greatest showman and his queen.
The possibilities were endless.
EXCITEMENT FILLED THE AIR…
Their youngest was incredibly excited about the project. Shyly, she kept peeking in during the creation of the cinema; sliding across the floor during light installation and giggling mischievously while hiding during lounge placement! What a delight to know that the creation of something world-class had the young minds excited too!
(Eventually, Mom and Dad had to step in and persuade their Princess towards- well – other things)
MAKE IT BIGGER – TWO ARE ON THE WAY!
We wanted to add a little something more for our royal couple – with bouncing twins on the way, they had to have an extra deluxe touch.
ur functional and dreamy cinema design boasted a 300cm cinema screen that fit into the 32 SQM room! It was big and it was brilliant. Adding to the mood, we installed a charismatic ceiling of stars: individual LED lights delicately tucked into the ceiling, for that fairy tale effect. This took us a whole week!
“It’s worth it” we said
AND WHAT ABOUT WAKING THE NEIGHBOURS? AND THE KIDS!
The King family were mindful of a night spent inside their new fully immersive entertainment space; the soundscape of movies and sport and music and an action series with all the booms and bangs – they wondered about the noise factor.
“No problem!” we said.
Our team met the solution with masterful acoustic design; we installed an acoustic door that locked in the crispness of the audio just right, to prevent any thrilling cinema sounds from waking the rest of the household. Rock on, king and queen!
A SPACE TO CALL HOME (CINEMA)
Not only is the King family fans of the beautiful life, they are people of God: caring, community-driven and selfless to the bone. Their Home Cinema would be the centre of all things celebratory, family, society and sharing. Their vision of unity and gathering was one to be admired; it went beyond audio visual and a need for entertainment…it went straight to the heart. And we could feel that!
BRING IN THE ROYAL TREATMENT
This was a vision, made reality. And we gotts to say – we felt proud.
Electronic chairs – yes! A plush chaise lounge – yes! A ducted system to extract hot air from the equipment – yes! Throw in the sleek lines of wooden clad floors and contemporary upholstery, M&Ms and popcorn; turn up the sound – and recline for the ride of your life.
This was it. The Greatest Showman arrived on their screen:

We could see the pride in Mr King’s eyes (maybe even, a tear) and the exhilaration building inside the King family. The feeling was matchless.
This was our calling card; to know that we could do what we love to do, so others can love it too.
THE CINEMA CORONATION!
Thirteen wonderful and hard-working weeks later, with joy brewing in the air, our reveal was ready. The moment was real, the stage was set, the whole family dressed up for the occasion. Even granny joined in the fun!
Our BNC team was eager to handover our King project with style and excellence. The stars flickered, the mood vibrated, the sound rose up and the screen of 4k pixels blanketed the space.
